Account and profile access
"Remember Me" Feature: To make it easier to access your account, you can use the "Remember Me on This Device" feature when you log in to the Website. This feature uses technology that allows us to provide direct account access and help administer the Bewuk service without requiring a password or other user identification each time the browser accesses the service.
Allowing third parties access to your account: If you share or allow others to access your account, they will be able to see the shows you have watched, ratings, and account information (including your email address or other information in the "Account" section of our website). This is true even if you use our profiles feature. You may have the option to use Transparent Account Login through Bewuk's Mobile Adaptation, which allows you to log in to your wireless on smart TVs, set-top boxes, and other compatible players on the Wi-Fi network to which you are connected. If you use that feature, those devices will remain registered to your account unless you later log out of those devices.
Profiles: By purchasing a profile with a Standard or Premium membership, you allow users to share their personalized Bewuk experience, based on the audiobooks and books they are interested in, as well as viewing histories. Please note that profiles will be available to anyone who uses your Bewuk account, so anyone who has access to your Bewuk account can browse, use, edit, or delete profiles. This should be explained to the other people who have access to your account; If you don't want them to use or modify your profile, make sure they are aware of it. If you sell or return a Bewuk-ready computer or device, you should log out and deactivate the device before doing so. If you do not securely maintain your password or device, or do not log out or deactivate your device, subsequent users will be able to access your account information, including your personal information.
Your Choices
Email and text messages. If you no longer wish to receive certain communications from us via email or text message, simply access the communication settings in the "Account" section of our website and uncheck to stop receiving emails. Alternatively, click on the "Do Not Receive Emails" link in the email or reply STOP (or as directed) to the text message. Please note that you will not be able to opt out of receiving certain types of correspondence related to the service, such as messages related to your account transactions or communication that is deemed important or necessary.
Push notifications. You can choose to receive Bewuk's mobile push notifications. On certain operating systems, you will be automatically enrolled in notifications. If you later decide that you no longer wish to receive these notifications, you can use the settings features on your mobile device to turn them off. We also offer push notifications in certain web browsers. If you agree to receive these notifications and subsequently decide that you no longer wish to receive them, you can use your browser's settings features to turn them off.
Interest-Based Ads. Interest-based ads are online ads that are tailored to your likely interests, which are determined by your use of various apps and websites on the internet. If you use a browser, cookies and web beacons allow us to collect information that helps identify your likely interests. If you use a mobile device, tablet, or media player that includes a reconfigurable device identifier, that identifier is used to identify your likely interests. For more information about Bewuk's interest-based ads, please see the "Cookies and Internet Advertising" section (later in this document).
Identifier matching communications. Some third-party sites and apps allow us to send our users online promotions about our titles and services by sending a privacy protection identifier to the third party. The Privacy Shield Identifier indicates that we convert original information (such as an email address or phone number) into a value to prevent disclosure of such information. The third party compares the privacy protection identifier with the identifiers in its database, and a match is established only if you used the same identifier (such as an email address) with both Bewuk and the third party. If there is a match, Bewuk may choose to send you a targeted promotional communication through that app or third-party site, and can better optimize and measure the effectiveness of online advertising. In the "Marketing Communications" section of the "Account" page of our website, you can choose to stop receiving messages.
Your Information and Your Rights
You may request access to your personal information, or correct or update outdated or inaccurate personal information we hold about you. You may also request that we delete the personal information we hold about you.

We respond to all requests from individuals who wish to exercise their data protection rights in accordance with applicable law. Please also see the "Your Choices" section of this Privacy Statement for additional choices about your information.
We may reject requests that are not proportionate or not required by law, including those that are extremely impractical, may require disproportionate technical effort, or could expose us to operational risks, such as free trial fraud. We may retain information required or permitted by applicable laws and regulations, including to fulfill your selections, for our billing or records purposes, and to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Statement. We take reasonable steps to securely destroy or anonymize personal information once it is no longer needed.
Safety
We have reasonable administrative, logistical, physical, and managerial measures in place to protect your personal information from loss, theft, and unauthorized access, use, and modification. These measures are intended to provide a level of security appropriate to the risks of processing personal information.
Other websites, platforms and apps
The Bewuk Service may be hosted or use features (such as voice controls) operated by third-party platforms, or contain links to sites operated by third parties that may have different information handling policies than ours. For example, you can access the Bewuk service through platforms such as Smart TV systems, mobile devices, set-top boxes, and a variety of internet-connected devices. These websites and platforms have their own privacy and data policies, privacy statements, notices, and terms of use, which we encourage you to read carefully. In addition, you are likely to encounter third-party apps that interact with the Bewuk service.

In some jurisdictions, the age of majority may be when you turn 18 years old, in which case you must be of the necessary age to subscribe. While minors under the age of 18 may use the service, they may only do so with the involvement, supervision, and approval of a parent or guardian.
Changes to this Privacy Statement
We will update this Privacy Statement as necessary, in accordance with changes in legal, regulatory, or operational requirements. We will provide notice of such changes (including information about the implementation date) in accordance with the law. Your continued use of the Bewuk Service after the updates take effect will constitute your reading and acceptance (as applicable) of the changes. If you prefer not to acknowledge or accept any of the updates to this Privacy Statement, you may cancel and stop using the Bewuk service. To find out when this Privacy Statement was last updated, please see the "Last Updated" section below.
Cookies and internet advertising
We and our Service Providers use cookies and other technologies (such as web beacons), as well as resettable device identifiers, for a variety of reasons. We want you to be informed about how we use these technologies, so this section explains the types of technology we use, how they behave, and what your choices are about using them.
Cookies and similar technologies, web beacons, and resettable device identifiers
Cookies are small data files that are usually stored on your device when you browse and use websites and other online services. We use other technologies, such as browser storage and plugins (e.g., HTML5, IndexedDB, and WebSQL). Like cookies, these other technologies may store small amounts of data on your device. Web beacons (also known as "clear.gif" or "pixel tags") often work in conjunction with cookies. In many cases, rejecting cookies will reduce the effectiveness of the web beacons associated with such cookies.
If you use the mobile version of Bewuk on a mobile device, tablet, or media player, we may collect a reconfigurable device identifier from your device. Resettable device identifiers (also called ad identifiers) are similar to cookies and are found on various mobile devices and tablets (for example, the "identifier for advertisers," or IDFA, on Apple iOS devices and the "Google ad identifier" on Android devices), and on some media players. Like cookies, resettable device identifiers enable more relevant online advertising to be delivered for analytics and optimization purposes.
Why does Bewuk use these technologies?
We use these types of technologies for a number of reasons: to facilitate access to our services by reminding you when you return; to provide, analyze, understand, and improve the use of our services; to enforce our terms and prevent fraud; to improve site performance, monitor visitor traffic and actions on our site; and to deliver and personalize our marketing or advertising; and to understand interactions with our emails, marketing, and online advertisements on third-party sites.
To help you better understand how we use cookies and resettable device identifiers, please see the information below:
Essential cookies: These cookies are strictly necessary for our website or online service. For example, we and our Service Providers may use these cookies to authenticate and identify our members when they use our websites and apps, so that we can provide our services to them. In addition, they help us enforce our Terms of Use, prevent fraud, and keep the service secure.
Performance and Performance Cookies: These cookies help us personalize and improve your online experience with Bewuk. For example, they help us remember your preferences so that you do not have to re-enter information already provided (e.g., during login). We also use these cookies to collect information (e.g., popular pages, switching fees, display patterns, click-through rate, and other information) about visitors' use of the Bewuk service, so that we can improve and personalize it, as well as our website, and conduct market research. If these cookies are deleted, the operation of our service may be limited.
Advertising cookies and resettable device identifiers: These cookies and resettable device identifiers use information about your visit to this and other websites or apps, and your response to commercial advertisements and emails, to present ads that are more relevant to you and for analytics and optimization purposes. This type of commercial advertisement is called "interest-based advertising." Advertiser cookies associated with our service belong to our Service Providers.
In connection with our use of these technologies, some of the websites and apps on which we advertise, as well as the ad technology companies we use to buy, deliver, optimize, and/or measure our ads (collectively "Advertising Partners"), may receive limited information from us as part of our targeting, measurement, and optimization campaign (e.g., the steps completed in the subscription and site visit or the information of opening/installing apps).
Common uses of this type of information are intended to evaluate the effectiveness and optimize advertising campaigns, allowing advertising partners to see when someone who saw an ad later subscribed to our service. Another common use is to make sure that we don't run ads to get subscribers to the Bewuk service if they're already a Bewuk user.
Bewuk uses contractual and technical measures designed to prevent advertising partners from accessing information regarding the specific selections of titles you make, the URLs you access, or programs you have viewed on our service. We do not share information about title selections or the shows you have watched on our service.

We will update this Privacy Statement as necessary, in accordance with changes in legal, regulatory, or operational requirements.
